BuzzCards from Sorenson

At the INDATA Project, we’re crazy for Apple products and love researching the newest apps in assistive technology. My latest find is a free app for the iPhone called BuzzCards from Sorenson. It’s designed for the people with hearing impairments and allows them to communicate more easily with people who do not know sign language.

The app works much like a deck of flashcards, except the user decides what is written on the cards. Users create cards ahead of time that they use most often. For example, a writes his or her lunch order on the card and flash it the server at the local burger joint to order. You could even use it to ask questions like, “Where is the nearest restroom?” or “Which way is the bus stop?”

Another great feature of this Apple app is that it is easy to make edits to the cards as needed. Cards are organized by category so it’s quick to find the card you are looking for. Categories include subjects like “Dining” or “Travel.” There’s no limit on the amount of cards per app so you can write as many  as you would like.

Below is an example of the screen on your iPhone when using BuzzCards. You can see that the specific card is in the “Fast Food” category as it is labeled on the top.

BuzzCard is easy to use  and allows people who are deaf to communicate quickly and conveniently with in numerous every day situations. BuzzCard is designed by Sorenson.

We do not sell Buzzcards. I would suggest contacting the company and asking them questions if you are have problems downloading the app. I apologize that we can not help you but we do not have access to the software. INDATA’s mission is to make consumers aware of products that may be helpful to them. Thanks for your support for our blog!
