Hi folks. Welcome to “Accessibility Minute”, your weekly look at Assisitive Technology—those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs.

Do you work with students with special needs?  Did you ever wish there was a comprehensive system and checklist to help determine what types of assistive technology might help those students?  Well… there is!  The Wisconsin Assistive Technology (WATI) Initiative has long been recognized for their free tool for assessing AT needs.  This free manual is available online and includes checklists for various needs areas like: seating and positioning, computer access, communication, reading, math, recreation, and even funding of AT.  If you’re an educator, you should know about this tool.

For more information, to read our blog or to drop us a line, visit EasterSealsTech.com. That was your accessibility minute for this week. I’m Wade Wingler with the INDATA Project at Easter Seals Crossroads, in Indiana.
