Hi folks. Welcome to “Accessibility Minute”, your weekly look at Assisitive Technology—those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs.

Telephone communication is important.  Sometimes looking up a phone number or getting other assistance with using or dialing a telephone is complicated by disability. Did you know that most phone carriers offer free or discounted directory assistance for people with disabilities?  In some cases, not only having an operator help with looking up a phone number is a free service, but also having the operator assist with placing the call may also be free.  To learn more, call your telephone carrier and ask about their Directory Assistance Exemption or other services available to people with disabilities.
