Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs!

For several individuals with visual impairments, typing on touchscreen devices has been quite the challenge (if not impossible). Inpris is an Israeli technology company addressing this challenge and has thus created an “eye-free” keyboard for mobile devices. Their app, the Super Braille Keyboard, is noted as the “most advanced virtual Braille keyboard in the world.” To use the keyboard, users simply use their fingertips to type Braille as they normally would.

By developing this app, the developers have opened doors for those who would otherwise have little to no access to touchscreen technologies. The app is available to download on the Google Play store as a two-month trial version.
