Hey there!  Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs!
Looking for an app to teach your child how to tell time?  Fortunately, nowadays there are several interactive, engaging apps to teach this skill.  A few weeks ago, I wrote about a time-telling app developed by Seven Academy called Tic Toc Time.  Another app available is Teach Me Time, an app that is easily adapted for individuals with or without special needs.
A unique feature about this app is that the numbers are displayed on the hands instead of the face of the clock.  So, as the user rotates the hands around the face of the clock, the numbers update the time relative to the position of the hands.  In doing so, the user learns the visual-spatial relationship of the hands.  Other features include:
  • Scoring to keep track of one’s progress
  • Randomized questions to ensure users won’t get the same questions
  • Ability to move at any pace
  • Patent-pending, minimal, distraction-free interface
  • And more!
To learn more about Teach Me Time, check it out on iTunes!
