Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs!

If you have a child or student with special needs, you probably know how difficult it is to find kid-friendly sensory toys and tools. Fun and Function is a company founded by occupational therapist, Aviva Weiss, and her husband, Haskel, who understand these frustrations firsthand as they have a child with sensory processing disorder. They channeled this frustration into a passion for creating the “best sensory toys and tools available”.

The company’s driving mission is to “improve the lives of kids with special needs.” They work alongside many occupational therapists and other experts to create their products. Aviva stated “Everything we make is kid-friendly, affordable, and most importantly, makes a real developmental and therapeutic difference in the lives of children.” Fun and Function’s innovative products are noted to build skills and self-esteem with sensory processing disorders, autism, speech or developmental delays, and more.
