EyeOn App

“Help!  I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!”  I’m sure you’ve seen or heard of this commercial advertising a button you can wear if you are living independently and at-risk.  A newer app, called EyeOn, takes this same concept, but works through your smartphone so you no longer have to wear a button on your wrist or neck.  In other words, it is “a simple yet effective way to call for help that doesn’t require any action by the person who needs help.”

How exactly does this app work?  With the EyeOn app, you create push notification check-ins whenever you want.  If you don’t respond after a certain amount of time, the app will automatically send a signal for help via email or text message to the caregivers you’ve provided.  This ensures that help is never far away for those in need.

Getting Started with EyeOn:

Within the app, you can set your own schedule for the app to check-in with you.  You can select which days and times work best for you.  “For example, the app can ask if you are okay every hour, only in the mornings/evenings, or every other day.”  You will then EyeOn appreceive notifications during your scheduled times asking if you are okay.  If you select “OK” then the alert will reset for the next scheduled time.

However, if you fail to respond, up to 3 caregivers will be notified via email, text message, or both.  Their notifications will state that you haven’t responded, your last known location (email only), and the battery level of your phone (email only).

When you first install the EyeOn app, you’ll be prompted to list care provider names, their mobile phone numbers, and the emails of each care provider.  Then you’ll be ready to set up the schedule for check-in times.
