Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs!

Curious about how the Amazon Echo can help promote independence for you or a loved one? Well, if you haven’t done so, go ahead and check out this week’s featured blog on EasterSealsTech.com. In sum, this blog covers multiple ways Amazon Echo can help individuals with different special needs. One of the items mentioned is the Ask My Buddy skill.

The second I read about Ask My Buddy, I had flashbacks to the numerous times I’d fallen or needed help… but didn’t have my phone or any way to call for help. By adding Ask My Buddy to your Amazon Echo, help is now only a shout away! Once it’s enabled and you’ve customized your contacts, you’ll be able to say, “Alexa, Ask My Buddy to Daniel,” or “Alexa, Ask My Buddy to everyone.” Doing so will immediately send an alert to desired contacts via text, email, or phone call.

Please note that Ask My Buddy is not a substitute for 911, but rather an additional tool offering the security of knowing help is just a shout away. To learn more, visit AskMyBuddy.net.http://www.askmybuddy.net/
