BraiBook – Portable Braille Reading System

A few people from my team recently traveled to Florida for the ATIA conference. One of the products there was the BraiBook, which is “the first pocket-sized e-reader able to convert your favorite books or documents into Braille text.”

The BraiBook features an ergonomic design that fits nicely in your hand. Even though it is compact, it stores more than 8,000 books in your ePub library. The company’s website explains how it’s different from other devices:

“The big difference is its system of passive reading. This system is able to read Braille from a single cell without moving your finger over the text.”

BraiBook Features:

  • First pocket-sized e-reader able to convert your favorite documents or books into Braille
  • Stores more than 8,000 books in your ePub library
  • Fits comfortably in your hand so you can walk and read
  • Features a simple joystick navigation that allows you to access the menu, control reading speed, audio volume, fast forward or rewind words, phrases, or pages
  • You do not need to be connected to the internet to enjoy a good book; simply store your books or documents in the device so you can read without internet or any other device
  • You can upload books via USB or Bluetooth
  • Battery lasts 5 hours on a full charge
