Garfield Park Arts Center (GPAC) is a unique venue within Indy Parks & Recreation. Originally a pool house, then a temporary home for zoo animals, the center has been renovated to include a beautiful art gallery, performing arts spaces, classrooms and a literary arts library. Colorful rentals spaces are available for birthday parties, wedding receptions, clubs and meetings. We host art classes, workshops, recitals, Vintage Movie Night, dance receptions, and several other events. Our gallery displays exhibitions from local and regional artists and the opening receptions are always open to the public.
The GPAC strives to be accommodating to people of various needs, with automatic doors, accessible bathrooms, and an elevator. Our free arts program, Arts for All, operates every Saturday and Sunday, providing free art activities to anyone who would like to participate, regardless of age, experience or ability.
Because the Arts Center is built into a hill, access can sometimes be tricky if you are at the top of the hill and cannot use the concrete stairs surrounding the building to go down to the front entrance. Should this be the case, alert a staff person and we will gladly turn the alarm off on one of our emergency exits at the top of the hill and allow you to enter.
Whether you are signing your child up for one of our summer camps, visiting the main gallery, or attending a special event, you can rest assured that our facility is fully accessible to everyone.
