126-04-17-15 – Driverless Cars

Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology–those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs.

Welcome to the future, or should I say the near future, of driving!  The promise of driverless cars is exciting for everyone but for some, it could be life-changing.      Individuals who may be unable to drive, such as those with visual impairments, mobility impairments and more–could finally get the opportunity to “get behind the wheel” with these cars and “drive” to work, the store, wherever!  With testing already happening in the US, autonomous cars appear to be more of a possibility than ever. To learn more about driverless cars, check our show notes for some links to the latest information!
