Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs!

Alright, so since the holiday season is among us, I will likely be talking about a lot of holiday toy ideas for your kiddos! If you’re searching for a toy to reinforce writing uppercase letters, check out the Magnetic Alphatab Toy! According the seller, Fat Brain Toys, description, the Magnetic Alphatab is a “genius, tactile way” to reinforce writing uppercase letters correctly.

It simply features the Alphatab with letters made of magnetic ball bearings and a magnetic stylus. To use, children simply hold the magnetic stylus, follow the arrows, and pull the pen along the letter lines. The beads will “magically” rise up in the try as they write, making it easy to see their progress in creating the letter. The beads create a fun popping sound making it more fun for the kiddo!

Other features of the Magnetic Alphatab Toy include:

  • Letter printing toy with magnets and pen stylus encourage correct letter formation
  • Provides tactile and sound reinforcement
  • Easy-to-follow arrows indicate the path to follow
  • Erases easily with the swipe of a finger!
  • Magnets are securely contained inside the tablet
  • Stylus pen locks into the bottom compartment for easy cleanup
  • Made of strong, durable materials
