Alexa Together subscription service

Alexa Together

I’ve written about several Amazon Alexa devices over the years as they can improve one’s independence.  Amazon is now offering a new subscription service, Alexa Together, that can help increase independence while helping you care for loved ones.

Alexa Together subscription service

According to Amazon’s description, “Alexa Together is a new way to provide support for loved ones, keeping you together even when you’re apart.”  To get started, you will need:

  • One Alexa Together Subscription: $19.99 per month (plus tax) after a 6-month free trial
  • An Echo device for the person receiving support: the service only requires the person receiving support to have at least one Echo device, while the supporting family member only needs the Alexa app on their mobile device
  • Two separate Amazon accounts: one for the person receiving support and one for the caregiver

Alexa Together includes activity alerts and an activity feed, so you can get an idea of what your loved one is doing.  This helps keep you in the loop and keeps them independent.

Additionally, this service includes a “professionally staffed” 24/7 Urgent Response team that your loved one can reach by simply saying, “Alexa, call for help.”  Or, if a compatible device detects a fall, Alexa will ask if your loved one wants to connect to Urgent Response and alert you of the call.

Overview of Alexa Together:

  • New subscription service to help you care for the ones you love
  • Set up daily alerts for your loved one’s first Alexa use, or if it isn’t used by a specific time
  • 24/7 hands-free access to trained agents who can help your loved one get assistance
  • See how things are with snapshots of your loved one’s Alexa and smart home interactions
  • If a compatible device detects a fall, Alexa calls Urgent Response and notifies emergency contacts
  • Remote Assist allows you to set reminders on a loved one’s Echo, manage shopping lists, link music services, and more
