With schools out for the summer, kids need fun places to go while their parents work. Bright Abilities & Recreational Center (BARC) in Carmel is a place “where every child belongs.”
Founded by Rosie Sarkaria — a mom of three with a master’s in health sciences management — Bright Abilities offers sensory-friendly play and enriching socialization for kids of all abilities. With a max capacity of 12 kids per play session, the staff is able to create a calm, low-key environment where they know every child by name.
As Jessica L. of Carmel writes in a review: “My son has tried gymnastics, swimming, soccer — he’d shut down every time because it was too loud. BARC is the first place he walks in happy. The groups are small and the staff just gets it.”
In addition to tactile play stations for kids with sensory needs and activities revolving around music and crafts for healthy expression, BARC offers Communication & Behavior Support sessions. Led by experienced Behavior Consultants, these sessions are focused on identifying behavioral challenges, reducing frustration and building independence.
