Get ready for a great adventure at the Indiana Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities’ 16th annual conference! You’ll be ready to take your advocacy skills “on the road” in your own community after experiencing our diverse and informative workshops, inspiring keynote speakers and fun social activities!
The Conference, themed “Going Places,” will take place Monday, Dec. 6, and Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Indianapolis. People with disabilities, their family members, caregivers and other advocates in the disability community are invited to participate in this two-day event.
This year’s Conference will include keynote presentations from notable speakers, including Bobby Silverstein, a nationally recognized disability policy analyst who has been called the “architect” of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); Steve Gold, recognized as one of the foremost attorneys in the disability rights movement; and Johnnie Tuitel, renowned presenter, author, entrepreneur and visionary.
The Conference will include 19 workshops, an assistive technology lab sponsored by INDATA, a reception for networking and socializing, and a ceremony to recognize recipients of the Council’s Community Spirit Awards. The Conference will close with a panel discussion of Indiana disability lobbyists who will explore public policy issues and soon-to-be introduced legislation.
