HouseLogix has ventured into unchartered territory! This year at the CEDIA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana HouseLogix made public their newest device- VoicePod, an innovative new Zigbee. Through speech recognition and speech output, this device was created to speech enable homes through a simple and easy process.

For people with disabilities or people who are unable to properly operate a keypad or remote, the VoicePod’s patent-pending technology offers a completely hands free control for any room. To awaken this single wireless device, users will say “Hello VoicePod.” After the VoicePod is awake, it responds to hundreds of natural questions and commands such as “lock the doors” or “turn off the TV.”  The device can respond to up to 30 speaker-dependent custom commands that the user can train based upon their voice.  In addition to giving commands, users can ask for verbal responses from their homes such as, “What is the temperature?”

The VoicePod offers fast speech recognition and speech synthesis that requires no user training. The VoicePod’s language pack includes lighting control, security, AV, temperature control and many more helpful features. For security purposes, a secure speaker-verification feature for customized voice recognition is offered.  In addition to the extensive language pack, the VoicePod doesn’t require Internet access or additional added on technology pieces. The VoicePod is properly equipped with every feature a user would need.

As if this wireless device didn’t offer enough, VoicePod also features text-to-speech output that allows it to function as a wireless announcement piece when needed.

VoicePod is due to ship in early 2013 and will include full Control4 integration. This new groundbreaking piece of technology is an amazing device and wonderful contribution to the assistive technology market.
