227-03-17-17 Make it Big App
Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs!
Earlier this week, I rode the elevator with an individual who is deaf. As we were waiting for the elevator to arrive, the said individual quickly whipped out his phone and rapidly typed on an app to start a conversation. This app annihilated the communication barrier within a few seconds! Naturally, I had to inquire what the app was called so I could share it with you all!
The app, which is called Make It Big, is free to download from the App Store. It is a simple, but powerful app that allows users to quickly type messages in large text. Within the app, you’re able to adjust the text and background colors, fonts, and more. He said he prefers the app to iOS Notes since the font is automatically enlarged making it easier for everyone to view.
Other features of Make it Big include:
– Easy to use: simply tap on the screen to type or edit text
– Automatic text resizing allows users to seamlessly rotate between landscape and portrait modes
– Attention Grabbing feature allows you to shake device to flash your message to grab someone’s attention
– And more!
