This free app can be downloaded from the app store on your smartphone. It uses your phone’s camera to detect the color of everyday objects. This app is particularly useful for people who are visually impaired.

The app “reads” the color of an object and says it out loud. It identifies the Hex color value, so you will know exactly what color an object is. It has two color modes; the app can read a color out loud using basic colors like “red” or “light blue” or more specific colors like “Midnight Blue” or “Peach Orange.”

This app is helpful for choosing what to wear in the morning, doing arts and crafts, telling the difference between similarly shaped objects and more.

It can be downloaded for Android and Apple smartphones.

Color ID Free is designed by Green Gar Studios.  Greengar was recently founded by two University of Southern California alumni. GreenGar released about a dozen simple, fun, and useful apps for the iOS, Mac and Android platforms that’s been downloaded over 12 million times. The most popular app is Whiteboard: Collaborative Drawing and Brain Tuner.
