Urban Accessible Birding on September 20

Boosting Health Through Birdwatching

If you keep a closer eye on birds this fall, they’ll likely lift your spirits. In fact, several studies show that birdwatching can lead to higher wellbeing and lower risk for mental illness. It stretches muscles, reduces blood pressure, gives you a dose of vitamin D, etc.

However, outdoor activities like this aren’t always accessible. That’s why Indiana Audubon is hosting two birdwatching outings designed for adults with limited mobility.

Olivia Bautch, an Indiana Audubon member and outreach partner, will lead both opportunities for participants to enjoy flycatchers, sparrows, vireos, waders, warblers and other seasonal species passing through Hoosier nature destinations.

These upcoming events will be slow-paced trips across wide, accessible trails. Binoculars will be available to borrow at both outings, and registration is required.
