Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs!

Zoomax is a company that has been committed to developing assistive technology for individuals with visual impairments.  They offer a full line of low vision aids including handheld, portable and desktop magnifiers, as well as wearable devices.  One of their newest devices is the Luna 8 Handheld Video Magnifier.

The Luna 8 Handheld Video Magnifier features a “compact body and a lightweight design” with 8 hours of battery life, making it an ideal magnifying solution to take with you wherever you go!  According to Zoomax, this handheld video magnifier is “simpler to use than a calculator.”

The device features no advanced features, only simple buttons so you can easily zoom in or out, adjust high contrast and a camera button for taking pictures of things you’d like to view later.

Other features of the Luna 8 Handheld Video Magnifier include:

  • 8″HD video magnifier with up to 8 hours of battery life
  • Slim, matte, textured finish with white on black buttons
  • Weighs 1.1lbs
  • Features distance viewing so you’re able to view the menu board in restaurants, slides in a conference room, and more!
  • Stores up to 200 images
  • Magnification of 3X to 19X
  • Full color and 10 high contrast color modes
